Roma y Firenze!

Last wednesday our group left at 4 in the AM for our 6:30 AM flight to Rome. We had booked a different flight but the airline cancelled it and then forced us onto this one. Upon reaching the airport the airline to which our tickets had been transferred denied having our reservations. So at 5 AM we called Raffa, our official travel agent/anti-Franco pro-Atletico Madrid (futbol team) overall kickass guy (to use the parlance of our times). He had words with the airlines. Strong words. Words that got us on our flight to Italy. We stopped in Pisa on the way to Florence. The tower was still there if you were wondering. It's "still tippin' on 44's". (mike jones!)

We then hit Florence, saw the David and the leather markets. The usual.

Rome: We were in town for the wedding of Joey Potter and Cruise Control, and though I didn't see them a group of my friends stumbled upon the hotel where the guests were staying and saw Beckham, Victoria Beckham, J.Lo, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett and the guy from Access Hollywood recording a promo. "When in Rome...if you're invited to this event you better be dressed to the 9's" He kept messing up his lines and they laughed, which he noticed. Later, it's said that a single tear escaped his make up and fake bake encrusted skin. :*(

We saw all the sites, Vatican, Basillica, Colloseum etc. and then went out afterwards, at least I did with some friends. One night we ran into a group of Italian guys and one particularly vulgar individual harassed a female friend of mine. The situation almost got bad however she can handle herself like a pro and I calmed everyone down by bonding over Family Guy. I told them I was from New England and they said, "oh yes, greenfield...grifield...griffin! That is where Peter Griffin is from." Problem solved.

The weather was absurd, sunny and hot, perfect for justifying multiple Gelato stops. First video should be posted on StudyAbroad today, hope everyone likes it though I maintain its still just raw and pretty rough footage of my experiences so dont judge it too harshly, it's certainly no AmandaAcrossAmerica or Galacticast.

The good news is there will be more videos to come! Including but not limited to, 1 raucous Real Madrid game (I still am a serious Barca fan) and countless other excursions across the mediterranean. Peace!
